Smith on the left, me on the right

Amazingly, almost a year has gone by since volume one of my unofficial collaboration caused so many children to cry uncontrollably. I’ve finally cobbled together the following track after many, many abortive attempts to create something I’m happy with. Here’s what I had to say last time round:

‘Although more people get to work with Mark E Smith than would be the case of a member of any band other than The Fall, the time comes when you realise that your chances of ever being in the band are fairly limited. Luckily for the computer techno geeks among us, lord Smith has a couple of spoken word albums for us to sample from. I’ve been intending to give it a go putting samples and loops to a Smith vocal for ages and have finally completed the first track of what I optimistically hope will become a full album worth of tracks.’

This second effort is entitled ‘Wogan on Blanket Blank‘ and features another track from Mark E Smith’s spoken word album ‘The post nearly man‘, along with various royalty free samples from the SONY Loops and samples collection. The only person who could therefore legally make any dosh from this is Mark E Smith. The first remix was an upbeat rocker, while this one is a lot slower, more intense and a lot darker.

If you’re interested in doing a remix, please let me know and I’ll get the samples to you.

Smith on the left, me on the right

While the family are away on holiday and I’m left home waiting for the academic year to draw to a close, I have been spending way too much time fiddling around on the computer. Fortunately, not all of that time has been a complete waste, at least I hope you’ll agree with me, as I’ve cobbled together the following track.

Although more people get to work with Mark E Smith than would be the case of a member of any band other than The Fall, the time comes when you realise that your chances of ever being in the band are fairly limited. Luckily for the computer techno geeks among us, lord Smith has a couple of spoken word albums for us to sample from.

I’ve been intending to give it a go putting samples and loops to a Smith vocal for ages and have finally completed the first track of what I optimistically hope will become a full album worth of tracks. This first effort is entitled ‘Chocolate tourizt findz art muzeum‘ and features the track ‘The CD in your hand‘ from Mark E Smith’s spoken word album ‘The post nearly man‘, along with various royalty free samples from the SONY Loops and samples collection, namely ‘Blip: Glitch Electronica‘, ‘Bradley Fish: Unstrung‘ and ‘Cinematix Vol. 1‘. Consequently, the only person who could legally make any dosh from this is Mark E Smith. I hope this will become viable because I also invite all of you to remix the bugger and do a better job than I’ve done.

Download the samples and have a go yourself (link now fixed). If you do a remix, please let me know.

- Entrailicus continues to fob off readers with his remixes

The name of this track is ‘Ugly‘, the name of my remix is ‘The Pink Flamingo Mix‘. Download it if you dare, put it on your own blog if you feel so inclined:

Download the file

The mix was born of a frustration with the original (can you remember the artist?) and a love of the vocal on the other sampled track (again, can you guess/remember/identify?).

Please remember that I’ve not received permission from anyone who owns the original tracks so download it quickly before I get into trouble.

Answers in the form of  comments, please, with some reference to Sheena Easton if possible.

Hi guys, long time no post. Sorry but the little’un has been more than a handful recently – approaching 5 months now.

Anyhows, noticing that the 2007 Festive 50 is now under way, I’ve decided to launch my bid for immortality here on the blog. I’m officially offering one of my own compositions for your consideration. Entitled Urban Sprawl, this is a track I’ve been working on for quite a while. As it stands, it still astounds me every time I listen to it, and for any of you out there composing your own music, you’ll know how hard that is to achieve.

Voting in this year’s Festive 50 is easy. click on the pic below:

Festive 50 2007

My new ambition in life is to be a featured artist on the ever wonderful Teenage Kicks Festive 50 as an artist.

However, I don’t want sympathy votes: only vote for me if this track startles you into taking action. Please, whatever you do, download the bugger and give it a listen..
